 and unique but they have one thing in common.
 They will have all been built in much the same way...

Genetics

They are starting from a good base of having a genetically gifted body type in the first place and blessed with a physique that would most likely look good even without bodybuilding training.

Compound exercises

Bodybuilders train hard and consistently over a lot of years. Their bodies are forged by compound exercises, mainly The Squat, Bench Press and Military Press. The weights used for bodybuilding will be heavy and in the 8 to 12 reps ranges to encourage hypertrophy and they will have consistently added a little bit more weight each and every session. You can be sure the bodybuilder with that incredible physique trained extremely hard until they failed to do another a rep.
 

Good bodybuilding food

Bodybuilders eat very well and understand their own nutritional requirements. Most of their nutrients will come from balanced meals with protein mainly from whole sources of chicken, beef, other meats and fish. The remainder of the bodybuilding meal is a balance of carbohydrates and unsaturated fats.

Bodybuilders also know that eating can be as hard as the training, splitting the vast amount of food they need to eat to gain the calories for muscle growth over 6 meals a day. If they cannot face consuming yet another high protein meal they will knock back a protein shake or meal replacement bar. 

 

Not only will they have the knowledge of good bodybuilding food they will also have the will power to avoid the ubiquitous junk food which plagues the high street.

They will also be found drinking plenty of simple good clear water instead of drinking growth stunting beers and wine.

 

 

Chemical assistance

The more honest of these bodybuilding elite may well admit to help from steroids. The boost that steroids give is the ability to spend many extra hours in the gym that would be impossible without chemical assistance. Steroids are not the easy route to bodybuilding success you still need to have the fortitude of mind and the willingness to sacrifice the time to put the hard work in to make your body grow to the extreme proportions that make a mention in the magazines. 

 

The use and risk of steroids is well documented and like religion and politics people will get cross and angry trying to enforce their view on others and nothing will change. The people that are going to use them will use them. The people that do not want to use them are not forced to take them either. It is a matter of personal choice. Rest

After a hard day at the gym they will ensure they get well rested taking at least 8 hours of important bodybuilding sleep per night. This is when the real bodybuilding takes place as the body repairs its self it will add a little more to the muscle fibres just in case it needs to work that hard again.

If you are a bodybuilding novice or pro the above mention regime will equally apply. This progressive weight training is proven scientifically to work and has been used since Hercules carried a calf on his back and as it grew into a full-sized cow, the mythical Greek became bigger and stronger.

 


There are no short cuts

When people look for short cuts there will other people waiting there to scam them. Most of the bodybuilding supplements have no independent proof that they work at all. Some like Pro-hormones are just dangerous but you still see fantastic claims on line and in the magazines. You should really be pissed off with the whole supplement industry and the superstars that promote this junk.

One thing for sure is that the bodybuilding elite did not get big because they took a supplement and equally as sure is you will not either. As the name suggest they are merely a supplement only and will not take the place of proper nutrition and damned hard work.

 

Within a few clicks on the internet you will find learned sources such as government bodies, sports governance organisations, university research establishments who have researched the claims of supplements makers and marketers and found them wanting.

 

To be clear supplements do not build muscles, training hard, eating and drinking well and plenty of rest build muscle.

With the internet being the truly wonderful resource it is you can within one hour be able to draw you own conclusion about bodybuilding supplementation. Do not even take my word for this, do your own research; be mindful of the creditability and credentials of the source and why they may say what they are saying and how they arrived at that conclusion.

Bodybuilding is a great sport and past time but it is being used to make money by selling supplements to people who want 'it' quicker than what their body can deliver. There is no consistent scientific evidence that many of these bodybuilding supplements work. At best you are wasting your money at worst supplements like the pro-hormones not only does not work but they can have long lasting health damaging side effects.

You should really be pissed off with the whole supplement industry and the superstars that promote this junk.
